Experiments
in theatre and cinema

These experiments are designed as ends in themselves or as playful provocations to expand the possibilities of mainstream cinema and multimedia theatre.

They can be performed freely by ANYONE, ANYWHERE, ANYTIME.

ANYONE is also invited to submit their own Experiment in Theatre and Cinema for consideration. 

No Input_ (2021)

Close Your Eyes_ (2016)

• A film begins.

• Words: “Close your eyes and do not open them, even briefly, until the end of the film.”

• Music and soundscape plays as the audience closes their eyes.

• Words: “If you read this message, silently stand-up and stare at the face of any person sitting. Do not make a sound.”

• Film continues until all people are standing.

Cut!_ (2021)

• A film begins  -  the ocean. A forest? A person??

• The audience is given a pair of scissors and invited to cut the screen. (in homage to Ono’s Cut Piece)

• Film ends when there is no screen/no ocean left.

Tell Me What to Do_ (2016/2021)

• Audience sees a person/s on the screen (live actor/s).

• Words come up: “Tell Me What to Do”.

• A spotlight comes up on a mic in front of the screen.

• Audience members can come up and give instructions of what to do to the actor/s.
