Etc.
Experiments in theatre
and cinema
Cinema is dead.
Cinema is past.
The projection of a corpse in a rectangular box.
Watched by a hypnotised audience sitting passively in the dark.
Cinema is dead.
Cinema is past.
The projection of a corpse in a rectangular box.
Watched by a hypnotised audience sitting passively in the dark.
Cinema began as a a place of lawless creativity,
playing with a new technology.
A train coming towards the screen,
sending audiences clambering out of their seats.
A rocket flying into the eye of the moon.
So how did this young restless artform become so codified?
So safe.
So set on its tracks.
And yet...
Etc. wants to make cinema alive and responsive, again.
Etc. wants to break out of the frame, like a train breaking through the screen.
Etc. wants to wake the audience from their lulling dream, have them rise up... and act.
It is time to reimagine the possibilities of mainstream theatre AND cinema in the digital age.
